Main Bead Embroidery Kit In the garden – 2

“In the garden – 2” continues the garden story: two rusty-brown birds have settled by a pink-and-blue bird house, one of them singing with its beak raised. The branches around them are hung with long red flower spikes.

What the picture shows

The house is the most heavily stitched part: pink walls, blue windows with shutters, a dark thatched roof and a strip of ornament beneath it are all filled with dense rows of beads. The hanging red spikes are built from dozens of separate beads, which makes them look grainy and heavy, and the leaves are worked in several greens. The blurred sunlit garden in gold-green tones stays as print on the artist canvas, and so do the birds themselves: their soft plumage is better carried by paint, while the dense beadwork around them makes them read more sharply. The sixteen colours are shared between the house, the berries and the foliage. The house is turned slightly toward the viewer, showing both the front and the side wall, while the berried branches cross the scene diagonally.
