Main Bead Embroidery Kit In the garden – 1

“In the garden – 1” is a garden scene with a bird house: a tit with a rusty-orange breast has landed on the roof, while a second bird peeps out of the entrance hole. Large yellow flowers and purple pansies surround them.

What the picture shows

The house is dark green, with white window panes picked out in small beads and a red-and-white garland over the doorway. The orange-yellow blooms around it carry most of the light: their petals are worked in several shades of yellow and ochre, which makes the flowers look rounded. A branch of blue bell-shaped flowers hangs at the left, and purple pansies with dark centres sit below and to the side. The blurred sunny background and the greenery behind stay as print on the artist canvas, while beadwork covers the house, the flowers and both birds, so the whole front of the scene becomes textured and clearly steps forward. Flowers surround the house on three sides, so the composition is dense, with only the top right corner left open to blurred greenery. The roof of the bird house is beaded in a darker green than the walls, which gives the little building clear volume.
