Main Bead Embroidery Kit Park

“Park” is a landscape with a stone arched bridge over a canal: a pale palace with a high roof stands behind it, and the banks are overgrown with willows and flowering shrubs.

What the picture shows

Water leads the picture: a broad turquoise surface with fine ripples and reflections fills almost half the canvas and stays as print, so the beadwork never competes with its shine. The twenty-four bead colours go to greenery and flowers — dark ivy on the tree at the left, pale willows at the right, pink, crimson, blue and lilac shrubs along the bank. The bridge is worked in warm grey-brown beads, the lamp post and balustrade in single stitches, the palace roof in blue-greys. Most of the shades belong to the crowns and the blossom, so their transitions are noticeably smooth and the greenery never flattens into one patch. The bridge sits close to the centre and cuts the scene in two: architecture and greenery above, water and reflections below.
