Main Bead Embroidery Kit Summerhouse

“Summerhouse” is a summer park view: a white rotunda with columns and a turquoise dome stands above the water, surrounded by dense greenery, with a stone path and flower beds leading up to it.

What the picture shows

The piece is almost entirely green: seventeen bead colours are spent on foliage, from pale spring green to dark emerald, and the willow branches hang as long lines of beads. The second lead is the water — a calm turquoise-blue surface with the trees reflected in it stays as print on the artist canvas, which makes the stitched crowns and flowers look denser against it. The lilac, pink and yellow flowers along the bank and the steps are set bead by bead, and the stone path is worked in warm greys. With 9,192 beads in total the stitching is dense and the greenery comes out in many layers. The rotunda stays a pale spot at the centre: its columns are worked in near-white beads and the dome in turquoise, and that is where the eye is led. The stone steps and the retaining wall are worked in warm grey beads and are the only break in the greenery.
