Main Bead Embroidery Kit Mimosa

“Mimosa” is a spring bouquet in a woven basket: fluffy yellow mimosa branches, red-and-yellow tulips and a few white buds tinged with pink. It carries the mood of early spring, when flowers come into the house before the warmth does.

What the picture shows

Yellow leads everything here. The mimosa is worked in small beads of several warm tones, from lemon to ochre, so the branches look fluffy and almost tactile. The tulips add red, white and pink patches, the foliage a handful of greens. The background is deliberately muted — grey-turquoise with a pink undertone — and it stays as print on the artist canvas, as do the shadows under the basket. Beadwork covers the flowers, the leaves and the woven basket, which pushes the bouquet forward and gives it all the light. Sixteen colours allow smooth shifts inside the mass of yellow. The mimosa branches spill out of the basket in every direction, giving the bouquet a rounded, generous silhouette.
