Main Bead Embroidery Kit Lilac ambience

“Lilac ambience” is a spring still life by a window: a large head of lilac in a glass vase, a green garden and light clouds behind the panes, and a turquoise silk scarf falling across the table.

What the picture shows

The palette holds to two shades, blue and lilac. The florets are worked in small beads of many tones, from near white to dense violet, so the blossoms come out rounded and softly ruffled. The glass vase, the greenery outside and the white tablecloth stay as print on the canvas — transparent glass and soft daylight are better carried by paint. Beadwork covers the lilac, the window frame, the scarf, the blue bottle, the small figurine on the table and the openwork lace along the edge of the cloth, and those are the areas that glow against the matte ground. Thirteen colours and just under four thousand beads keep the project short. The head of lilac rises above the window bar, which makes the composition feel spacious even on a small canvas. The scarf on the table is the second largest stitched area after the flowers, and its turquoise answers the lilac.
