Main Bead Embroidery Kit Our Lady Pochaev

“Our Lady Pochaev” shows the Mother of God with the Child against a gold ground inside a blue ornamental border. The icon is restrained and fairly large.

What the picture shows

The Mother of God, in a deep red maphorion, holds the Child on her right arm; both wear gold halos, and the Child, in a pale shirt, reaches down to the lower edge of the image. The ground beneath the arch is solid gold, with no landscape. At the bottom there is a dark stone with a footprint-shaped hollow, the recognisable sign of the Pochaev image. The border is worked in blue beads in a geometric weave, with golden rosettes in the corners, and the arch itself is laid in pale beads. Beads cover the halos, the ground, the maphorion, the Child's garment and the whole wide border; the faces and hands stay as print on the canvas, as befits this kind of icon. The overall tone is warm: a lot of gold, muted blue and deep red.
