What the picture shows

The dogs are golden-ginger with long ears; both wear red hats with white trim and red scarves, and one holds the end of a shiny garland in its teeth. Behind them stands a pale house with a red door, a green wreath with a red bow, fir garlands along the railings and a string of coloured flags above. A lantern stands to the right, snowy steps run up on the left, and gold tinsel lies in the snow under their paws. Beads cover the hats, the scarves, the wreath, the garlands, the flags and the lantern, while the dogs' fur and the walls of the house stay as print on the canvas. Red, green and gold — the whole Christmas range is gathered here with nothing extra. The dogs sit in the centre, looking straight at the viewer.
