Description

“Nostalgia” shows a bouquet of hydrangeas and tulips on a stone parapet, with a green landscape of a river and a house among trees opening up behind it.

What the picture shows

The bouquet dominates the canvas: blue and purple hydrangea heads, orange and red tulips, dark green leaves. It stands in a terracotta pot on the right, while on the left of the parapet there is a wooden bowl with white embroidered linen and a strand of blue beads hanging down over the edge. Behind them a wide valley opens out — the bend of a river, green meadows, a path and a small homestead among the trees, under a warm pale sky. Beads cover all the flowers, the leaves, the pot, the bowl, the lace and the beads; the landscape and the sky stay as painted print, so the bouquet reads as a separate, almost raised plane.
