What the picture shows

The girl stands in profile in a white dress with an apron and a red ribbon in her hair, a woven basket of flowers in her hand. To her right is a stall under a striped blue-and-white awning, crowded with bouquets: yellow mimosa, blue and pink hydrangeas, small white blooms in clay pots. A cart wheel and several terracotta planters stand nearby. Beads cover the dress, the apron, the basket, the awning and nearly every flower on the stall. The pavement, the wall and the far background stay as print, so the bouquets read first and the small figure glows against the warm ground. The colours are bright but gathered into one warm range, from lemon to terracotta.
