Description

“Angels” is a square garden scene: two little girls with white wings by the porch of an old house wrapped in flowering shrubs. One waters a flower bed from a can, the other sits in a wicker chair with a kitten on her lap.

What the picture shows

The subject is packed with detail: a striped cat on the steps, a birdhouse on the tree to the left, hanging baskets of flowers on either side of the door, warm light in the windows and a solid wall of blossom in pink, lilac, blue, white and yellow. This is the most densely beaded design of its kind: beads cover almost the entire surface — the shrubs and flowers, the angels' wings, their lace-trimmed dresses, the watering can, the chair, the cat, the garlands on the house and even the stream of water. What stays as painting is mainly the facade with its door, the steps and the shaded areas in the depth. Nine colours carry the transitions inside the flowering mass. The difficulty is above average, because of the sheer bead count and the small details.
