Main Bead Embroidery kit Lubava
Description
“Lubava” is a woman's image in the art nouveau spirit: a girl in a cream dress sits against a large decorative circle, with a wreath of red and pink flowers in her loose hair. The piece is soft and contemplative, with the recognisable influence of Alphonse Mucha's posters.
What the picture shows
The background comes in layers: a narrow band of green with ornament along the top, and behind her a large circle filled with plant scrolls in warm ochre, gold and pink. The beads go where the picture is brightest: the wreath in her hair, the wide collar-necklace of red, blue and green beads, the embroidered band running down the dress, the pattern at the top and bottom of the canvas, and part of the scrollwork in the circle. The face, the hands and the falling folds of cream fabric stay as print, so the beadwork reads as real jewellery on a light garment rather than as a solid beaded ground.
